Time Space Existence 2014, Palazzo Bembo: University of Houston, USA,
A digital exhibit highlighting the fragility of our natural ecosystems, and the design of life's actions to preserve it for generations to come.
by Earthli x Atelier AHA
organised by the European Cultural Centre
We are two young climate-impact focussed businesses that are passionate about tech, culture and environmental consciousness. From individuals to cities, we're looking at all scales to consider solution that advance us forwards against the urgent social and environmental challenges we face with Global Climate Change.
Earthli is a new social and climate-impact startup empowering urban-dwellers to reconnect cities to our natural ecosystems by growing food, plants and consciousness of local biodiversity and the environment.
With a growing, connected community, we're proving how networks of edible gardens can localize our food systems; build social resilience and well-being; and scale with populations in cities to create micro-habitats that cool our environment and support native wildlife.
Atelier AHA (AAHA) is an architecture, design and innovation studio with a focus on sustainable and human-centred projects that nurture and enhance life, in all its shapes and forms.
In a materially finite world, we believe everything is connected, and nothing is without cost. With a strategic, holistic and cross-disciplinary approach to design, our goal is to help imagine and create the future, responsibly.
The Time, Space, Existence exhibition is an architecture exhibition organised by the European Cultural Centre (ECC) of Italy, which runs from the 21st of May, for six months across three scenic locations in the city of Venice.
The exhibition is part of broader event: The Venice Biennale Architecturra, which occurs only once every two years and coincides with a number of other events across the city with a focus on Architecture and Design, attracting guests and selected participants from around the world.
Exhibit to be in the Palazzo Mora (2)
This year Atelier AHA was invited to present at the Venice Biennale, and we have decided to co-present our exhibit with our newly launched social and climate-impact startup, Earthli.
As a team that is crossing multiple disciplines and audiences to create an impact, we are highly conscious of the opportunity this is to simply showcase design. However, we believe it is far more critical to present why we must design, to build social awareness, resilience, and empower action to reach a future that overcomes Climate Change.
We believe that small endeavours can amount to a huge impact, and we take great pride in having been a (99.9%) paperless design studio from our first days, as a result of constantly experimenting with cutting edge technology and testing the status quo.
Similarly, and in the spirit of minimising materials, waste and the environmental impact of this exhibit, we are busy designing an experience that captures the theme of Time, Space, and Existence via Augmented Reality; highlighting how each of us has a role to play in our precious ecosystem that we know as Earth.
However, we have one challenge. We need your help...
The European Cultural Centre is a non-profit organisation, and for the duration of the Venice Biennale, the Time Space Existence Exhibition is open to the public for free.
In order to cover event costs, participants are asked to make a contribution and as such, corporate, institutional and private sponsors are kindly invited and included in a number of marketing opportunities as part of the event and materials that are passed onto guests throughout the six-month-long exhibition.
We believe Commbank as a brand that represent many Australian's, and as a team of two small Aussie businesses, we
is actually innovating in the technology space, and as such, our team have been using Samsung devices for the trust, performance and novelty in tech offerings for a very, very, long time.
To give you an example we even deployed our first mobile AR applications on the Samsung S6 back in 2015, for Architectural purposes.
Since then Samsung has helped push AR forwards in the mobile space. Furthermore, we've seen Samsung lead in sustainability and the endorsements of the UN SDGs, as well as sustainable design practices (before it was cool) and this is something we really value between Atelier AHA and Earthli.
We see our goals as one and the same, and in some form we are using technology to test the status quo, to create something meaningful: a legacy that generates long-term impact for a better world.
These are just some of the values we share.
Common goals
BLOOM concept storyboard:
Final output is being designed in 3D for Augmented-Reality.
Bloom tells the story - our story - of all sentient life. It speaks to our inheritance as stewards of our blue planet, Earth, and brings to question the actions we take to live within its ecological and material boundaries. Critically it invokes us to consider the legacy we leave beyond our lives.
The exhibit breaks down the need for explanation and dialogue, through a sculptural, interactive AR experience, set in what appears to be one of the last remaining gardens. The narrative highlights the complex relationships, balance, and fragility of the natural world that we are intrinsically a part of, and aims to create awareness and empathy for the needs of all life, of human and fellow biodiversity, within the circular value-chains of a balanced ecosystem with finite resources.
In the context of Global Climate Change and the Earth's ecosystems and biodiversity currently facing collapse, this project demonstrates how small actions can have a major impact on both culture and the environment, and ultimately motivate each of us in the vital role we play in our interconnected ecosystems here on Earth.
Bloom is not a story about hope. It is a story to inspire responsibility and the legacy of taking action —together.
The Venice Biennale presents a unique marketing opportunity, through which we'd love to highlight our sponsor(s), for their brand, products and efforts in sustainability, in this rare occasion. Here are just a few ideas on some of our favourite products that we'd love to help promote:
Samsung Neo QLED and Micro LED technology represent a game-changer for artists, professionals demanding the fine details, craftsmanship and sustainable design in their next tv / display / monitor.
The efforts being made across the board towards the UN SDGs, particularly in reducing the carbon footprint of new models, new levels of screen energy efficiency, and eco-packaging is really fantastic. We also love the new Solar Cell remotes -awesome!
As creative professionals we love robust tools and great design. Our team also happen to be long time Samsung mobile users and early adopters of the NX-Camera system (we still use this!)
We're huge fans of the next-gen mobile line up, and we use the S-pen on a daily basis.
We think a lot of creatives are missing out and - well - we'd love to showcase what they may be missing in their creative toolbox! #paperless for 6 years and counting!
x1 sponsor 💪
$25,000 USD sponsorship 🎉
x3 sponsors with equal prominence 💪💪💪
We're excited to announce, we've tentatively secured a high traffic location for our digital exhibit in the Palazzo Mora Entry Courtyard.
This will allow our project to be experienced by many, socially distanced, during the launch events, and even outside of Palazzo Mora exhibition hours. We're most excited for the opportunity this creates to engage with the broader city community, who enter this garden across the 6 month purely out of curiosity as this space is closed to the public outside of the Venice Biennale period.
Symposia, talk or workshop in Venice:
Sponsorship of the event allow for one sponsor to host their own conference or event in 1 of 4 exhibition venues in Venice, during the Venice Biennale period (free - the costs associated with conference preparation are all included as part of the Exhibition contribution to the ECC)
—or—
In the scenario of multiple sponsors, we would be very keen to elevate each brand by hosting a panel discussion with a designated representative around the topic of sustainability, and discuss the insights and endeavours of each company. This format can be further defined with flexibility to benefit the group.
Online visibility:
The ECC are working on the implementation of online visibility for our exhibition, with new features and contents in the Virtual Tours. In addition, single projects will be published online on their social media, live broadcasting of events, conferences, etc. to reach a broad audience.
Offline visibility:
The exhibition takes place in Venice in three locations which the ECC made accessible to all visitors entirely free of charge. In total, we will use 3000 sqm indoor plus 5000 sqm outdoors space.

Other options for sponsorship and collaboration:
The Venice Biennale only occurs once every two years, and holds a special place in the hearts of Architects, Artists, Creatives and creative institutions alike, from around the world.
As such, there is a wide gamut of guests who visit Venice during this time, with a focus on creativity, and sharing inspiration and knowledge through multiple events hosted across the city.
Here is some of the data, from past events hosted by the European Cultural Centre, from across their four scenic locations in Venice.
